Tri-Clamp Gaskets

Focus on SICHEM® SEAL gaskets and Tri-Clamp connections

SICHEM® SEAL gaskets are specifically designed for Tri-Clamp connections, which are widely used in process lines where cleanliness, food safety, and quick intervention are essential. Their principle is simple yet extremely effective: two ferrules with a shaped edge are joined face-to-face and secured with a clamp that holds the gasket in place and ensures sealing.
This system eliminates the need for bolts, threads, or mechanical surfaces prone to contamination, allowing quick assembly and disassembly even during routine maintenance operations.
The polished, crevice-free internal finish minimizes residue and biofilm formation, making Tri-Clamp connections ideal for systems requiring frequent washing, cleaning-in-place, and autoclave sterilization.

SICHEM® SEAL gaskets are designed to meet all the requirements of these connections.

SICHEM® SEAL Gaskets for TRI-CLAMP

SICHEM® SEAL gaskets are specifically designed for applications on TRI-CLAMP connections, which are widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

TRI-CLAMP joints represent a well-established standard wherever surfaces must meet high hygiene requirements and be compatible with CIP – Cleaning In Place – and SIP – Sterilization In Place protocols.

Their widespread use is supported by the availability of sizes covering the entire typical range of process piping, and by compliance with international standards such as ISO 2852 Stainless steel clamp pipe couplings for the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, DIN 32676 Tri-clamp fittings – hygienic connections, SMS 3019 Sanitary Fittings and Connections, and ASME BPE Bioprocessing Equipment, ensuring interchangeability and compatibility with existing installations.

Tri-Clamp Connections offer numerous practical advantages: they reduce plant downtime, have no protrusions or tightening components that may trap contaminants, allow immediate gasket replacement, and do not require special tools for routine operations.

Gaskets play a crucial role in these applications and, thanks to their versatility, SICHEM® SEAL Tri-Clamp gaskets provide an effective solution both for new systems and for upgrading existing lines, enabling rapid reconfiguration of process paths without invasive interventions.

Sichem® Seal gaskets are:

  • Designed for a wide temperature range, from cryogenic conditions up to +260°C.

  • Made of modified PTFE with special fillers, ensuring high mechanical properties, minimal extrusion, reduced cold flow, and resistance to almost all chemical agents.

  • Suitable for all types of fluids in the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

  • Able to guarantee dimensional stability and sealing even under high temperatures and pressures, maintaining performance over numerous process, cleaning, and sterilization cycles.

  • Compliant with major standards and certification requirements.

Sichem® Seal gaskets are available in the following material variants:

    • PSW: Based on premium-grade virgin PTFE, medical grade according to USP Class VI. Also available with an insert in various elastomers.

    • PSB: Modified microstructured reinforced PTFE, filled with hollow glass microspheres. Their uniform distribution provides consistent density and high adaptability.

    • PSG: Special blend of PTFE and passivated stainless steel 316. Specifically designed for steam applications.

Sichem® Seal gaskets are also available for screw couplings according to DIN 11851 – Hygienic screw pipe couplings for food and chemical industries and SMS 1149 – Dairy screw couplings, as well as gaskets for flange connections according to DIN 11853 and DIN 11864 (available on request).

Sanitary screw couplings are used in food industry installations (especially dairy processing) and consist of a threaded nut, male part, female part, and gasket, designed to provide hygienic, removable, and easily cleanable connections on process piping and equipment.
