Planisteel Camprofile Gaskets
Manufactured with a grooved metal core and covered on both sides with a thin layer of compressible material (graphite, PTFE, or mica), Planisteel Camprofile gaskets ensure high performance under severe operating conditions. The concentric grooves promote tightness even at low bolt loads, while the covering material perfectly adapts to flange surface irregularities.
They are particularly suitable for industrial plants operating at high pressures and temperatures, such as refineries, power plants, and chemical facilities. Camprofile Gaskets, also known as kamprofile or serrated gaskets, can be produced in accordance with major international standards or with customized profiles.
Reference Standards:
ASME B16.20
Metallic Gaskets for Pipe Flanges – Ring-Joint, Spiral-Wound, Serrated and Jacketed
Includes specifications for camprofile gaskets, especially when used with ASME B16.5 or B16.47 flanges.
EN 1514-6
Flanges and their joints – Dimensions of gaskets for PN-designated flanges – Part 6: Covered serrated metal gaskets
The European standard defining the dimensions of camprofile (covered) gaskets for flanges according to EN (PN 6–400).
EN 12560-6
Variant applicable to flanges defined by DIN/EN, functionally equivalent to EN 1514-6.
Special Camprofile Types:
Convex
Convex Camprofile gaskets consist of a metal core with a convex profile, machined with concentric grooves on both sealing surfaces. This geometry ensures excellent load distribution and high mechanical strength, minimizing the risk of damage to the flange sealing faces. Convex Camprofiles can be equipped with any type of filler.
Filler-free Camprofile
Filler-free Camprofile gaskets are a special design developed for applications where the use of soft covering materials or fillers is not possible, such as in the presence of oxidizing fluids or at extreme temperatures.
Covering Materials (layers):
Expanded Graphite
• Resistant up to approx. 550 °C on line RF flanges and up to 650 °C on LMF and LTG flanges
• Excellent chemical resistance (except against strong oxidizing agents)
• High conformability
• Certified for low fugitive emissions
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)
• Resistant up to approx. 260 °C
• Excellent chemical resistance (almost universal)
Mica
• Resistant up to approx. 1000 °C
• Suitable for high-temperature and oxidizing service
Vermiculite
• Resistant up to approx. 1000 °C
• Suitable for high-temperature and oxidizing service
