Custom RTJ
This gasket is specifically designed for use with flanges featuring grooves, commonly known as RTJ flanges.
The main characteristics of the product are as follows:
RTJ K incorporates a monitoring port that allows the gasket sealing performance to be tested or monitored by providing external access to the annular cavity between the gasket and the grooves.
The special configuration of this gasket is designed to allow the primary and secondary sealing surfaces of the RTJ flange to be tested, either separately or simultaneously, to ensure proper sealing integrity.
The RTJ K gasket is installed in the flange groove like a conventional RTJ gasket, but the small test port (hole) incorporated into the gasket body provides access to the annular cavity between the groove and the RTJ. After the flanges have been correctly assembled and tightened, a gas or liquid can be introduced through this port to pressurize the space between the sealing surfaces, allowing the flange sealing integrity to be verified before the system is brought to full operating pressure. Once the specified test pressure has been reached, maintaining it within the limits established by the procedure provides an indication of sealing integrity, while any pressure drop may indicate a potential leakage path.
This method allows each joint to be tested individually without pressurizing the entire line. Since the test volume is very small, the test is quick and efficient and requires only a minimal amount of test fluid.
This approach enables early detection of potential leaks and significantly reduces the risk of failures during operation.
It also provides greater reliability for high-pressure RTJ connections and can be equipped with a monitoring line to verify sealing integrity over time.
