The Guardian Premium IS flange isolation kits do not use any metal support, and the GRE (Glass Reinforced Epoxy) gasket serves both as a retainer and as an insulator, fulfilling the following functions:
✔ electrically isolate
✔ mechanically seal
✔ resist pressure, temperature, and fluids
The seal can be made of PTFE, NBR rubber, or FKM.
The gasket seating groove is shaped to prevent retainer breakage in case of overstress and to provide greater flexibility to the sealing element.
The gasket can be used on RF, FF, and even RTJ flanges as a replacement for inefficient Phenolic Ring Joints. During tightening:
the gasket compresses and creates the seal
the bushings and washers prevent metal-to-metal contact
the joint becomes electrically isolated and mechanically sealed
The Guardian Premium IS flange isolation kit can be used up to 200°C depending on the selected GRE, in ANSI 150 - 1500#, API 2 - 5K# and PN 6 - 250# ratings.
The Guardian Premium IPT flange insulation set uses Planiflon™ B13 as its sealing and electrical insulation element, a modified and bi-directionally oriented PTFE. This specific configuration significantly reduces the effects of relaxation and cold flow typical of PTFE gaskets, ensuring high reliability even in the most demanding applications.
Planiflon™ B13 is suitable for RF and FF flanges and offers very broad chemical compatibility, covering the entire pH range from 0 to 14, except for certain specific fluids incompatible with the filler.
The Guardian Premium IPT kit can be used up to 200°C, with ANSI 150–300# and PN 6–40# ratings. The use of GRE G10 (FR4) – Glass Reinforced Epoxy Resin Composite materials – for sleeves and washers is always recommended. Compared to other solutions, particularly phenolic ones, GRE G10 has a much lower hygroscopic factor: this ensures full sealing efficiency throughout the expected service life, avoiding malfunctions caused by mechanical load loss due to washer degradation.
