Characteristics

These gaskets are manufactured in compliance with tha main international standards, but are frequently produced according to proprietary drawings for customized RTJ flanges. There are several designs of Ring Type Joint (RTJ) gaskets: R, RX, BX, SBX, SRX, IX Norsok, Lens gasket types. The grooves where these gaskets are seated must have a finely finished surface, free from ridges, tool marks, or imperfections that could affect sealing performance. Additionally, the gasket material must have a hardness level al least 20÷30 HB lower than that of the flange groove to prevent flange damage and ensure proper deformation of the gasket for an effective seal.

Applications

Details about RTJ Gaskets and RTJ Flanges:

1) Both types R Oval and Octagonal are interchangeable on the modern octagonal type grooved flanges
2) Only the R Oval shape can be used in the old type round bottom groove
3) The groove’s sealing surfaces how those of the RTJ as well must be smoothly finished to Ra 1,6 micro meter
4) The hardness of the Ring Type Joint Gasket, made in the most popular materials, is highlighted in the Table RJ-3.2-1 of ASME B16.20
5) The hardness of the Ring Type Joint Gasket should always be less than the hardness of the flanges
